Dr. Ayako Mizumura, CEAS/Sociology, University of Kansas, speaking about Minorities in Japan
Dr. Alexis Dudden, History, University of Connecticut, speaking about security and territorial disputes
Dr. Alisa Freedman, Professor of Japanese Literature, Cultural Studies, and Gender, University of Oregon, Editor-in-Chief, U.S.-Japan Women’s Journal.
Dr. Sherry Fowler, CEAS/Art History, University of Kansas, speaking about Buddhist Art and some of the pieces on display at the Nelson-Atkins, which we will visit Friday evening.
The workshop will include a visit to the Japan Gallery at the renowned Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and a day of cultural activities, performances, and lectures at the Greater Kansas City Japan Festival.
