JSA members consist mainly of those who are interested in Japan Studies and share the same objectives as JSA, including graduates of the JSA Summer Institute, educators at both two-year and four-year colleges and universities, and graduate students. Officers
Officers are nominated by the JSA Nominating Committee from the members of JSA. They are bi-annually elected via mail-in ballots by all current JSA members.

JSA's Newsletter is distributed to all those with an interest in keeping track of JSA events. JSA members are automatically added to it upon registration.
